Join the Friends of Valentines Mansion for a Special Sunday Open Day (FREE ENTRY 12-5pm) at the mansion, with a focus on Victorian cookery, courtesy of Miss Briggs Instruction Book in Cookery and in honour of this years Schools Poetry Hooker Prize Competition, where pupils wrote poems about Valentines Victorian Kitchen. Find out more about the magnificent kitchen range, the best way to boil potatoes and maybe youll go home with a recipe such as jam tarts made with potato pastry!Victoria Sponge will be served and there will be guest musicians playing from 2pm as well as an exhibition of the shortlisted poems in the Holcombe Room.Arrive early to be sure of a seat for the ceremony in the Drawing Room announcing of the winners of this years poetry prize! You can book your seats here.The Friends of Valentines Mansion is a charity supporting the preservation and improvement of the Mansion and historic features and landscape of Valentines Park, promoting their use and enjoyment by the community. All proceeds and donations go towards this charity.The Friends are delighted to be celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, with a new role since last year to support not only the Mansion but also projects to improve the Park. This event will also celebrate the many successes and contributions of the Valentines Park Conservationists who supported the restoration of the Park, completed in 2008.
